DEFENCES-Band

Hiya Chummies!
Today I am doing a post to support my brother's band DEFENCES. Now I know what you guys are thinking. 'Sibling love I bet she has to do this, she probably doesn't even like them'.
LIES
Even if I had never met any of them I would still love their music because it is my style really. They have a longgggg history so that will have to wait for later. Let's meet the current band members.

Singer: Cherry Duesbury ( only girl )
Lead Guitarist: Calum Wilmot ( my brother )
Rhythm Guitarist: Ed Briggs ( also the bands longest lasting member along with Calum )
Drums: Alex
Bass Guitar: Kyle

THE HISTORY:
This is going to be a long one guys...

They went through a lot of names:
STONE CARRAT
STORM
FLATLINE
DEFENCES ( I think they are sticking with this one )

The band ( routes ) started in 2008, ( that's a long time )
The band member that left a long time ago that I remember very well was Alex Rodzianko. He was another guitarist. I remember him so clearly because he was one of Calum's good friends. I'm not really sure why he left Storm but he did. Shortly after March 2011. Their first big gig. In March 2011 The band (at that point they were called Storm), went to Grovestock. Grovestock is a music festival where anyone can enter under certain categories and there is a winner from each division. There are is also an overall winner. Storm won their division and they whole thing! I also entered with a duet with my amazing friend Rudi who I went to primary school with. We were always duet partners and have participated in a number of singing competitions together. Major Chummie Alert! We didn't win any prizes but left feeling very happy as the judges commented on how we were dressed so awesomely! We were so cute!

That was that. My best memory of Grovestock is once they had won and they did a big performance outside and the singer, and I quote, said this. 'PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER!!!... please'.
Before Grovestock, they did a lot of gigs about the Hampton Summer Fair ( That is where they went to school). I was always their little groupie! awww
I said earlier on that Ed was also one of the longest lasting members of the band. Along with Calum. They were in it at the beginning will be in it 'till the end. They have worked really hard together and make an awesome pair. That band turned into Stone Carrat.

Stone Carrat slowly broke down but Calum and Ed stayed positive! They went on a website that people make a profile on if they want to make a band. It is called' join my band'... real original huh?
they eventually found a few people and formed Stone Carrat v.2 that eventually broke down as well because one of the guys was late 20's and got a proper job and he kinda was the singer... so DEFENCES was BORN!!!!!!!!
Calum and Ed were racking their brains for good band names. To get me to shut up when Ed was over, they would get me to think of names ( none of them were any good...)

DEFENCES NOW
Defences are getting bigger and bigger now. For most bands, this would be the breaking point because the members are going off to Uni. But quite the opposite for Defences. They are getting offered gigs all the time! This is their full EP ( small album ). The screaming is Ed.
They are most often supporting  bands for other major bands. I don't know much about their gigs because I am never allowed to go because I am too young but I am pretty sure that the main venues they peform at are The Garage and Camdon Underground. Their is some info. about Defences on this website if you want to know more about them. They also have a manager if you want to contact the band about businessy stuff ( I'm 12, how am I meant to know what any of it means!!!???!!!
That's all I have got for you today guys!
See ya later, Alligator
p.s- ( It's my 13 birthday in 12 days!!!!)

Halloween Costumes

Hiya Chummies!
Halloween is one of the funniest nights of the year! But can be really stressful when it comes to costumes... That is why, I am here, to guide you through this horrible process (from a hotel room in dubai). I am going as Izzy Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments which you can find out more about  in my book post. My friend Clara is going as clarrie... BFF's!! I will be doing a post in the Halloween party! ( if my dad lets me borrow his camera...) here is some help!

Girls 12 (my age)
Now a lot of you will be thinking,
' am I too old for trick or treating?
What do I do if  I have no plans on Halloween!?
Am I too old for the traditional witches hat look?'
The answer is.... NO
You are never too old for Halloween traditions, ever. If you don't have any plans on Halloween then make your own! You could go trick or treating with your little sister/brother ( if you have one ) Or you could get your friends over and make your own Halloween party!

Types of Costumes:
Book Characters
Famous People
Scary things (duh) such as god I don't know, zombies witches etc...
Animals (see above) such as cats, mice or dogs! ( It's been done )
Alexa Chung Dressed as Anne Boleyn for a Halloween Ball
BeyoncĂ© dressed as a bee! Surprise surprise! For the same Halloween bash as Alexa Chung

Beautiful Cornwall- October half term

Hiya Chummies!
Sorry I haven't posted in aggges but my life has been very busy at the moment! Anyway, today I am going to be doing a post on Cornwall! I have been going to Cornwall (Polzeath) every holiday since I was 6. I'm not going to lie to you guys, it is quite a boring place in the non-summer holidays. All the traders are only here in the summer. The traders are people who sit on the beach and sell you good quality stuff. Some of them do Henna Tatoos, Hairbraids and sell little bracelets. Anyway, they aren't here which is annoying. Here are some pictures of the beautiful place! ( and my garden)......(and dog).....

I have no idea what I have done to the pictures...
I am in Polzeath at the moment!
I'm sorry this has had to be a short one but I am very busy.
see ya later, Alligator!

Musicals

Hiya Chummies! As I sit here in my free period, I wonder what I can share my 'knowledge' with you about. I have got so many drafts on my account I don't know what a post is and what a post isn't. So, I am going to delete all my drafts and become organised! Here is a post for you on Musicals. Some of you who know me in person know that I looove acting, singing and dance. That is basically saying I love Musicals, musicals and musicals. I have gone to a fair amount of musicals in my time so I am going to share some of them with you! I did a post like this but for books. Here we go!
( This isn't in any order)

Billy Elliot!
I went to see Billy Elliot when I was.... 10 and it was so fun although I didn't understand some parts. The obvious story line is about a boy who likes being different and doing ballet, he wants to be a professional ballerina but his family won't except that. Although, there is a lot more to it that only older people will understand. The fact is, at the time there are really bad riots going on and his family get deeply involved. They have barely any money and they don't have enough to 'waste' on Billy's extra-curricular. This is a beautiful story of love, family and doing what is right. There are amazing dance numbers and heavily layered harmonized songs. I recommend this show 11/12-up. There is a  confusing political side to it and some rude language. Thoroughly entertaining and heart-warming. Here is the trailer.
Oliver!
I went to see Oliver when I was..... I have a confession guys.... I have never actually seen Oliver. BUT! Never fear, I have been in the play 3 times so I know what I am talking about. Oliver! Is such a popular story, written by Charles Dickens. It was written aggges ago but is still ridiculously popular! ( like Mean Girls...). There is infinite books, plays and movies of the story. It is the story of a boy at an orphanage who breaks some rules and gets kicked out. He meets a gang of boys who pick pocket and finds his true friends. It is a heart-warming and loveable story! I recommend this for people from 3-oldies. It is perfect for families, Perfect for everyone! This is the trailer.

Matilda!
I saw Matilda twice when I was 10.. again. I actually saw it in the same theatre with the same people! Matilda is the story of a young girl who is really clever but has a stupid family. She goes to school and falls in love with learning. She meets a teacher called Miss Honey who is the only person who understands her. Matilda soon discovers she has magic powers! Here is the trailer.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
This is the story of a teenage boy with autism. He finds his neighbour's dog dead in the garden with a pitchfork sticking out of it. He tries to find the murderer and goes on a journey. It is hard to write about this show, so watch the trailer
This is all I have for today guys!
Hola ( liking the new goodbye? I'm not quite sure yet...)

Book Reviews

Hiya Chummies!
So as I have mentioned in my other post, I luvvvvvvvv books! When people say thinks like, "Oh I haven't read a book for like 2 years" or, "Ugh I hate reading!", I look at them blankly for a while then walk away. However, I do know that there are a lot of books out there that you just cant get your teeth into ( not literally), you don't get sucked into the story line. It is so frustrating when you find that type of book so today I am going to give you some book reviews!

" Anna Dressed in Blood" is written by Kendare Blake and is a Horror book Anna is a ghost, murdered a long time ago. She kills people. Cas is a ghost hunter. He kills ghosts. Anna has had a curse put on her that anyone who came into her house, she would have to kill.  When Cas and his friends come in, she doesn't kill them. That gets Cas's attention. They soon fall in love and it is a love to DIE for. i recommend this book for people between 12 and 16. Obviously, it depends how advanced you are a as a reader. This is a very grabbing book but I am not very good at writing grabbing summarties. I highly recommend this. I aso recommend the sequel! Girl of Nightmares but I am half way through reading it!

The Mortal Instruments
PRAISE FOR THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS!!!!!!!!
That was a little spoiler alert for tomorrows post... So, I am not going to say that much except that there are 6 books in The Mortal Instruments series.
City of Bones
City of Ashes
City of Glass
City of Fallen Angels
City of Lost Souls
City of Heavenly Fire.
They are about.. these people... who do this thing.. basically, just look at my post about it  tomorrow, I will put a link for it here.
The Fault in Our Stars is by John Green and is a romance novel with Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. Now I am sure pretty much all of you have either heard of the book or the movie... or the song.  It is about a girl called Hazel Grace who has cancer. One day, she goes to a cancer support group and meets Augustus Waters. They fall in love and go on a wild adventure but when disaster strikes, can they stay loyal to each other? Again... I can't really write summaries.

And That is all I've got for you guys today! I am really sorry I didn't say more but I was doing my secret project!
See ya later, Alligator

Brandy Melville

Hiya Chummies!
Today I am going to be doing a post on... Brandy Melville! Now I apologise in advance if I don't always do a post everyday or make it lengthy but I am planning something very special for you lovelies which  I am having to write at the same time as this! I am having to up my postage rate to 2 per day because of this secret project. So here is a post on Brandy Melville!

I first came across Brandy from my friend Edie who had the georgous ' Caroline Cardigan'. She wore it one day and I completely fell in love with it! We went to the car boot sale and I made her leet me wear it! It is so comfy and surprisingly warm ( even though it is really thin). Part of the beauty of Brandy Melville is that most of the things are one size. Obviously; things such as croptops , jeans and some skirts have sizes but other things don't! Now, if you did click the Brandy Melville link I made, then you will see that it says Brandy Melville USA. I honestly had a break down, but then on my friends snapchat story.... I saw a picture of her with BM bags! so I knew you could get them in England.  You see how much the internet has done for us?. Now, Im sorry this is quite short but the pictures off the webstie were awful so I have just used a link instead. SO click the "'Caroline Cardigan' Link!

See ya' later, alligator

Car Boot Haul

Hiya Chummies!
Today I went to the Chiswick Car Boot sale with my good friend Edie .
Here are some of the things I bought!
This is a map of Britain published in 1945. I got it for £2. It is printed on paper. ( cloth was 3 pounds). When it was made, it cost two shillings and threepence.

This a little leather notebook from the Middle east which I accidentally deleted the picture of so this is all I have! It is bound by a thread of brownishred thread and is leather. On the front it has an intricate design of a camel. The paper is hand made, thick and tough. I have been wanting one of these for ages! I got it for £3

Ignore the soaked teddies, they are my dogs, I just thought they gave a wee tumblr. look.... What was I thinking!? Anyway, focus on the little treasure box at the end. It is solid, thin wood and has a leather stuck on map on the top and sides. I got it for £1.

These cute little glasses are from the 1980's! I am going to use them to hold my earrings in as I am always losing earrings. They cost 50p each but I got them in a 3 set for £1. They are pure glass and adorable!

Ok, so I may have a little confession to make. I may have bought it for the box... The box is just so adorable and fragile. The brouche inside is quite ugly and doesn't look like eyore at all. Although it is hand-painted and extremely delicate. It cost me £2.

There isn't much to say about it. This is a glass bottle that cost me £3. What else are you meant to say??

Now. I didn't actually get this from the Car Boot. Edie got it from the last Car Boot but she didn't use it. She was going to give it to her little sister but she wouldn't really appreciate the tumblrness of it so I decided to take it off their hands! It is made of old fashion records...

And here is a selection of everything I got!

Now, I know this wasn't one of my normal posts with loads of writing and not a lot of pictures but I decided I just wanted to show you what I bought!
See ya later, Alligator
