DEFENCES-Band

Hiya Chummies!
Today I am doing a post to support my brother's band DEFENCES. Now I know what you guys are thinking. 'Sibling love I bet she has to do this, she probably doesn't even like them'.
LIES
Even if I had never met any of them I would still love their music because it is my style really. They have a longgggg history so that will have to wait for later. Let's meet the current band members.

Singer: Cherry Duesbury ( only girl )
Lead Guitarist: Calum Wilmot ( my brother )
Rhythm Guitarist: Ed Briggs ( also the bands longest lasting member along with Calum )
Drums: Alex
Bass Guitar: Kyle

THE HISTORY:
This is going to be a long one guys...

They went through a lot of names:
STONE CARRAT
STORM
FLATLINE
DEFENCES ( I think they are sticking with this one )

The band ( routes ) started in 2008, ( that's a long time )
The band member that left a long time ago that I remember very well was Alex Rodzianko. He was another guitarist. I remember him so clearly because he was one of Calum's good friends. I'm not really sure why he left Storm but he did. Shortly after March 2011. Their first big gig. In March 2011 The band (at that point they were called Storm), went to Grovestock. Grovestock is a music festival where anyone can enter under certain categories and there is a winner from each division. There are is also an overall winner. Storm won their division and they whole thing! I also entered with a duet with my amazing friend Rudi who I went to primary school with. We were always duet partners and have participated in a number of singing competitions together. Major Chummie Alert! We didn't win any prizes but left feeling very happy as the judges commented on how we were dressed so awesomely! We were so cute!

That was that. My best memory of Grovestock is once they had won and they did a big performance outside and the singer, and I quote, said this. 'PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER!!!... please'.
Before Grovestock, they did a lot of gigs about the Hampton Summer Fair ( That is where they went to school). I was always their little groupie! awww
I said earlier on that Ed was also one of the longest lasting members of the band. Along with Calum. They were in it at the beginning will be in it 'till the end. They have worked really hard together and make an awesome pair. That band turned into Stone Carrat.

Stone Carrat slowly broke down but Calum and Ed stayed positive! They went on a website that people make a profile on if they want to make a band. It is called' join my band'... real original huh?
they eventually found a few people and formed Stone Carrat v.2 that eventually broke down as well because one of the guys was late 20's and got a proper job and he kinda was the singer... so DEFENCES was BORN!!!!!!!!
Calum and Ed were racking their brains for good band names. To get me to shut up when Ed was over, they would get me to think of names ( none of them were any good...)

DEFENCES NOW
Defences are getting bigger and bigger now. For most bands, this would be the breaking point because the members are going off to Uni. But quite the opposite for Defences. They are getting offered gigs all the time! This is their full EP ( small album ). The screaming is Ed.
They are most often supporting  bands for other major bands. I don't know much about their gigs because I am never allowed to go because I am too young but I am pretty sure that the main venues they peform at are The Garage and Camdon Underground. Their is some info. about Defences on this website if you want to know more about them. They also have a manager if you want to contact the band about businessy stuff ( I'm 12, how am I meant to know what any of it means!!!???!!!
That's all I have got for you today guys!
See ya later, Alligator
p.s- ( It's my 13 birthday in 12 days!!!!)

Musicals

Hiya Chummies! As I sit here in my free period, I wonder what I can share my 'knowledge' with you about. I have got so many drafts on my account I don't know what a post is and what a post isn't. So, I am going to delete all my drafts and become organised! Here is a post for you on Musicals. Some of you who know me in person know that I looove acting, singing and dance. That is basically saying I love Musicals, musicals and musicals. I have gone to a fair amount of musicals in my time so I am going to share some of them with you! I did a post like this but for books. Here we go!
( This isn't in any order)

Billy Elliot!
I went to see Billy Elliot when I was.... 10 and it was so fun although I didn't understand some parts. The obvious story line is about a boy who likes being different and doing ballet, he wants to be a professional ballerina but his family won't except that. Although, there is a lot more to it that only older people will understand. The fact is, at the time there are really bad riots going on and his family get deeply involved. They have barely any money and they don't have enough to 'waste' on Billy's extra-curricular. This is a beautiful story of love, family and doing what is right. There are amazing dance numbers and heavily layered harmonized songs. I recommend this show 11/12-up. There is a  confusing political side to it and some rude language. Thoroughly entertaining and heart-warming. Here is the trailer.
Oliver!
I went to see Oliver when I was..... I have a confession guys.... I have never actually seen Oliver. BUT! Never fear, I have been in the play 3 times so I know what I am talking about. Oliver! Is such a popular story, written by Charles Dickens. It was written aggges ago but is still ridiculously popular! ( like Mean Girls...). There is infinite books, plays and movies of the story. It is the story of a boy at an orphanage who breaks some rules and gets kicked out. He meets a gang of boys who pick pocket and finds his true friends. It is a heart-warming and loveable story! I recommend this for people from 3-oldies. It is perfect for families, Perfect for everyone! This is the trailer.

Matilda!
I saw Matilda twice when I was 10.. again. I actually saw it in the same theatre with the same people! Matilda is the story of a young girl who is really clever but has a stupid family. She goes to school and falls in love with learning. She meets a teacher called Miss Honey who is the only person who understands her. Matilda soon discovers she has magic powers! Here is the trailer.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
This is the story of a teenage boy with autism. He finds his neighbour's dog dead in the garden with a pitchfork sticking out of it. He tries to find the murderer and goes on a journey. It is hard to write about this show, so watch the trailer
This is all I have for today guys!
Hola ( liking the new goodbye? I'm not quite sure yet...)

A Note on My Chemical Romance

Hiya chummies,
This is a post on... My Chemical Romance. If you look on my previous post, you'll see how much I love them. They broke up in 2013, and I'm sure the MCRmry are still grieving over their loss.  I will introduce you to the band members.

,

This is Gerard Way. He is the lead singer. In my opinion, it would be an understatement to refer to him as THE GOD OF MUSIC. For me, whenever I think about the band, the first thing that springs to mind is Mr. Way. It's not just his forever changing hair colours ( #lemonisdead ) that make him amazing, it is his ALL ROUND AMAZINGNESS! ( when we are talking about Gerard, amazing ness IS a word ). On a more serious note, he suffered with depression and was suicidal, and the band saved his life. He has been such an inspiration to me, and the fact that he was at a point so low, and managed to become the success he is today, is incredible. Also, he's brought out a new album, so go listen if you want your life to be changed.

Now we move onto Frank Iero ( with an i not an l ) he plays the guitar (2nd in command), I'm so sorry..... I don't  have  any other  way to say it...  He doesn't normally look like this, although the blood look is growing on me, he is just... Amazzzzzing! I also am a major Frerard shipper.

Followed by Ray Toro! This guy has the best hair I have ever seen. He is the lead guitarist ( again, I apologize for trying to describe frank's position and ending up sounding like a pirate ). He is absolutely amazing at what he does and his hair is godly! Whenever I hear a guitar solo coming up, I find myself uncontrollably saying 'Ray Ray's cray cray solo'. Yeah, it's come to that.

Mikey Way, the bassist. He's actually Gerard's brother. He has possibly the best meaningful stare I've ever seen.

The first time I heard one of their songs ( It was 'I'm Not Okay' ), I got chills. The song spoke to me, and I still have days where I'll play it on repeat.
It's safe to say I'm obsessed, however it makes me weep knowing they'll most likely never bring out a new song to feed my obsession.

My favourite album would have to be The Black Parade because it has most of my favourite songs and has variety of slow and calm (ish) music and proper MCR style let's go properly mental style music! . All of the songs on that album just put me in the best mood I can't get out of.

They're all nearing their 40s, and after being together for so long as a band, it makes it even harder to accept they're gone. They've play such a huge part in my life, and I don't want to ever forget the effect they've had on me.

so long and goodnight
